Shizuku Porcelain Collection
Shizuku Porcelain Collection
Shizuku Porcelain Collection | Nishi Takayuki | Designed and Made in Japan
In Japanese, “shizuku” means “drip.” This original glaze by the young potter Nishi Takayuki melts during firing at 1200-1300°C (2190-2370°F) and then runs down the porcelain. As it cools, it hardens, creating the effect of drips that are about to fall from the edge of the cup.
The gradated blue tones of the glaze, which leave part of the immaculate white Arita-yaki porcelain naked, give this cup an elegant, fresh effect.
Each cup is hand thrown, and the effects of the flow of the glaze are created naturally in the kiln, so each one is different.
