Porcupine fish "Hari-senbon" Odd looking fish with many needles like spines on the skin, they inflate the bodies when threatened. About 15 to 70 cm in length. Living on rocky reef or sandy bottom, using a strong set of teeth they crush shellfish, sea urchin as main diet. Not toxic although they belong to the puffer fish group. They are usually sliced raw for sashimi. Cooked in hot pot or fried.
